I found an old 1970's book with crochet pictures in it and there was a blanket with squares of material and crochet around the edges (about 4 inches of crochet), then it was crochet or whip stitched together to make a big bedspread. I figured out they had done a blanket stitch around the material first and then crochet onto that! So I tried that first and made a throw blanket for the couch, I also did a decorative stitch around the whole exterior when I had it all put together. It turned out really cool. So I thought why couldn't I take a big piece of fleece material and do it? Well I am finishing it now, and everything has gone great, except trying to get the blanket stitch into the fleece, that was miserable!! The yarn was so thick it was hard to pull through! I tried different needles which really didn't help and I finally ended up mainly pulling the yarn through with pliers!! It took days of really forcing myself but I finally got it done! The rest has been a breeze, made up my own stitches and found a really pretty edging I like that I have 3/4 of the way finished! I'm giving it to a friend that I think a lot of who moved over an hour away, so it made all that "pulling" worth it!!
