Hug Rug
Created By: MARY JO LEWELLEN
My grandchildren live in California (I live in Pennsylvania) and I miss them a lot. It isn't easy to have so many hugs to give and no little one to give them to. It's even harder to save them up and not smother the little ones when we do get together. On a visit to my daughter's home I came up with the idea of making a "Hug Rug" for my granddaughter. It's a simple short scarf (no longer than the span of her arms) in a simple crochet pattern alternating strips of white and pastel ombre yarn. She wrapped it around herself like a shawl and I told her every time she did that it was a hug from Grandpap and me. I called it a "Hug Rug" because it was easy for a two-year-old to say and remember. Now it's time to make one for the grandson.
