Chemo Warmth

Last year I was diagnosed with Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome after surgery on my wrist. I was feeling very sorry for myself until I met a woman at therapy who was recovering from a hand injury and she had just been diagnosed with breast cancer. She had started chemo and radiation and was losing her hair. Through all of this she was brave and very upbeat and made me realize that no matter what your problem, someone else is having a trial that may be more immense than your own. I knitted her a chemo cap for "bad hair days" and a simple knit prayer shawl to keep her warm during chemo and radiation and wrapped it for the therapist to give to her. I never saw her again after that. The knitting provided therapy for my hand and hope for a remission of the pain syndrome.
