Transplant Shawl
Created By: Patricia Lingerfelt-Tait
In 2006, I was dying of a Liver disease called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis. I was on a transplant list in 2 regions and beginning to be despondant. The call was slow in coming. As I got worse, I decided to start knitting a shawl to wear to my transplant! It really gave me hope. I found the most beautiful yarn and began my journey. I finished it as I was driving north to Pittsburgh on October 15, 2006.On October 17th I was given the most beautiful Gift Of Life from my son, Simon. He shared part of his liver with me. We are both doing very well. He had no problems after surgery and mine have been minor. I have now taken the shawl apart and I am in the process of rekniting it into a sweater. This yarn is so precious to me and reminds me that Life is Good and that the Gift of Life is precious. So it is really a tribute to my son, Simon.
Sincerely,
Ali Lingerfelt-Tait
