The Pray Love Blanket
Created By: Amanda Cox
I do not belong to a ministry. However, I just started crocheting and my friend told me about a prayer shawl that she had knitted. I thought it was such a beautiful idea, so I found a pattern and decided to give it a try.
A family friend of ours died of ALS recently. I was able to finish the shawl just after he was admited to inpatient hospice. I figured that they would really appreciate something to give them some warmth in the chilly hospital room.
They have a seven year old little girl and she especially loved the shawl and called it the "pray love blanket." The whole family used it: their grown sons and his wife used it to take naps while sitting at his bedside, and they wrapped our friend in it when he got cold. They told me that they were just so touched by the comfort of knowing that I prayed for them while I made it. They could feel the healing and love sewn in.
I was comforted as well, knowing that while there was little I could do to help this family, I was able to bring some warmth, literally with the shawl and also through the power of prayer.
