Comfy and Cozy
Created By: Trish Alden
I got my first prayer shawl when I was diagnosed the second time with liver and bone mets. The first person to present me with a prayer shawl was a daughter of a co-worker at school. The second prayer shawl was given to me by a dear friend and teammate of my dragonboat team, which is my greatest support group, besides my family. After receiving the prayer shawls, I started to make them for other friends that learned that they also have been diagnosed with cancer. There is nothing better than to come home exhausted from a busy day or a day after a long session from chemo and to wrap the prayer shawl around your shoulders and to relax in a comfy chair or bed knowing that someone cares enough to make something special just for you! I hope that some day we don't have to make prayer shawls for the diagnosis of cancer. I hope that they are made for comfort on a cold winters day.
