The traveling baby blanket

Many years ago a friend taught me how to do the afghan stitch using an afghan needle. Around that time my children started to have children so I started making baby blankets. Many blankets later I was doing them for friends and co workers too. I was a widow and met an very nice man and got married again. My husband loved to travel and both he and I drove so we were able to take long trips across the country. We have in fact driven through all 49 states, which in cludes Alaska, and on 3 islands in Hawaii. Of course I have to have something to do in the car so I do baby blankets. I was making one for a co worker and I kept track of all the States we travelled through (17 in all) and when I gave her the blanket I gave her a card that read: Made by Lucy in (then I listed all the States we had travelled through) ending with "may your baby travel to as many States as this blanket".
