How knitting saved my sanity on the road!
Created By: Carla White
When I first taught myself to knit a few years ago, I was so pleased that I found I was knitting all the time! I soon realized that I needed to do something for others. At that time, we were on the road a lot, seeing to my elderly mother in another town. I found a pattern for a seaman's scarf (check out the Seamen's Institute on line for patterns) and that has become my "road trip" knitting companion. My mother has passed away now, but the knitting continues. When we are at home, I do personal (or for family) knitting, but when we are on the road, I usually work on a scarf for someone else. Sometimes I make scarves or hats for needy children in our community - but at any rate, I work on small, portable items to be given away. It makes the time in the "co-pilot's seat" go faster, and I'm able to accumulate quite a few gifts for others, and feel blessed to do so.
