Miracles All Knitted Together
Created By: Virgina Arnette

I belong to a very small church where I had begun a "prayer bear" minstry in which we purchased bears and said prayers over them and delivered them to various people with illnesses and problems to bring comfort and hope. I had always wanted to learn to knit so when I saw prayer shawls displayed on your website I asked my roommate if she would teach me how to knit and we also decided to see if anyone in our church would be interested in learning as well because we had see some powerful results from our "prayer bear" ministry. 5 of us decided to meet each Monday evening for a couple of hours to learn how to knit and make prayer shawls. I can't explain the awesome power these shawls have had over those who have received them without shedding tears of amazement and joy. We had a woman who suffered from a virus that had spread to her brain and she was going to have to be moved into a nursing home due to to severity of her condition. She was totally unable to care for herself or speak. The Sunday following her hospitalization, our first completed prayer shawl ( which we had only taken to display at the church in hopes of sparking interest in gaining new members into our " Prayer Shawlers Group" ) was prayed over by our congregation and taken to this patient. When the prayer shawl was placed over her shoulders a miracle of healing took place. The doctors and nurses were shocked. she could now speak clearly and coherently, and had so improved that she could be moved into a rehab center for a while until she would be able to return to her home. This is just one example but the power of this ministry also touches us as we gather to knit them each week. We produce them according to our ability to knit at our own individual pace and I have used a knitting loom for one shawl for one due to my carpal tunnel syndrome. We couldn't do this without our expert knitter who has been kntting off and on for several years but your instructions on how to knit are priceless. I don't think it would be the same if we all worked on these shawls in a setting other than as a group. We just have too much fun and we learn so much from each other. Thank you so much for blessing us so that we can be a vessel to bless others. We have even had one lady we gave a prayer shawl to ask her church to make these. It really is one of the most powerful acts of love and kindness I have ever known. Just to see the children in our church holding these shawls and praying over them before we send them to those in need of one touches your heart and soul in a huge way. Thanks for opening a door for our small church to reach out to a large community and share hope and compassion.
