Arms of Jesus
Created By: Nikki Carpenter

I started my prayer shawl ministry in June 2006. The day we buried my Great Aunt Harriet. My husband and I were in my hometown and had gone to check out the new Alco store. Naturally I headed straight for the yarn and pattern aisle. I found alot of patterns that intrested me,but I noticed this pattern book that was almost covered up by other pattern books. The only word that I saw was shawl. That book almost lept off of the shelf at me. when I saw the title I absolutely couldn't let it go. I showed it to my husband and told him that I had to have it. When he looked at it hw agreed with me.

I had felt a heavy conviction in my heart that the Lord wanted me to crochet something for this wonderful Lady in my church who had cancer of the brain. When I found The Prayer Shawl Ministry I heard the Lord tell me that I had found what He wanted me to do. So I crochet her the triangle one. Ieven showed the book to my Pastors and they were Blessed by thier enthusiasum for it. On the Wednesday night that I was to give the shawl to her Pastor prayed over it Icould hear her telling her husband that whoever got that shawl would be so blessed to have it. After pastor prayed over it and gave it back to me I noticed that no one was leaving because the wanted to see who was getting the shawl. I took it to her and as i placed it around her sholders I said to her that as I prayed over every stitch I prayed that when she wore the shawl she would feel the arms of Jesus wrap around her. She has gone on to be with the Lord. But that shawl has gone on to bless someone else.

The night I gave that shawl in obedience was the night my outreach ministry ( The Arms of Jesus ) was born.
