I already submitted a story telling how our Prayer Shawl Ministry began at the Duncannon Presbyterian Church. Now I would like to share one of the many stories.
When i was a patient in November of 2006 at the hospital, my room mate was a very elderly lady, I don't know her name, but I remembered her daughter telling the nurses that she would respond to "Honey" she could not speak clearly just made noises, one evening she was so very restless and just would not settle down, the nurse came in often trying to help her relax. After the nurse left I was sitting in my bed, wrapped in my Prayer Shawl. This Prayer shawl was very special to me, because I crocheted it while sitting by the bed of my Mother - in- law that September, Mother was able to wear the shawl just one day before she passed away, so I wanted to keep it because we shared a special blessing of the shawl together. But as I listend to "Honey" that night, God seemed to be telling me to give her the shawl. When the nurse came back in she helped me to place it over "Honey". She seemed to relax, when we were alone again, she started her talking again, so I started to sing Jesus Loves Me. I could hear her trying to sing with me, I could hear her saying Jesus Loves. The next morning her daughter told me it was her favorite song. I do not know what happened to "Honey" but i do know that Prayer Shawl was a blessing to her.
