Methodist Church's Prayer Shawls
Created By: Lisa Hayes

Although I have only recently moved to the town of Kalona, Iowa, my church's prayer shawl ministry has been ongoing for a long time. They have and do crochet and knit prayer shawls that have been given to friends and relatives of the members when they have accidents, deaths, illnesses and other situations that require or warrant our giving them to the suffering people, men and women alike. We usually pray after our Sunday morning services with as many women who are there at the time, and the group meets once/month to work on the shawls, and see if there are others that are in need of them. They are made with the Lion Brand's Homestyle yarn and make beautiful shawls with or without the fringe. They are also made in other kinds of yarns and are all appreciated by the recipients. One has gone to Wales in recent months due to a death in one of our parishioner's families. Everyone loves doing these and giving them as well.
