Knitting for Brisbanes Needy

This is not a story of individual giving but rather one of a group of wonderful people mostly living in my state but also including others in other states of Australia and also overseas.
Our group is an oline group and the co-ordinator of the group lives locally and many of the members communicate through online participation and also regular meetings called knit and natters. Our group not only makes shawls but rugs, socks, beanies, gloves, mittens and any items which will help a homeless person to keep warm as most of them have no where to call home other than the great outdoors, so in a unique way we are providing hugs and comfort in a practical way to help those who have a real need as society often either does not care or does not know of their need.
Our co-ordinator is the vital link in this - she and her family make sure that the donations go directly to those in need with the only stipulation that the garment given goes directly to the recipient and is not sold on as it is in other charities
Many of our members area mad keen knitters, crocheters or sewers and would rather be doing this than any other things in their lives. I think it gives them lovely warm fuzzy feelings to know that they are making a practical difference in helping someone back to their feet in a time of need.
