I belong to a group that meets once a week to knit prayer shawls. We enjoy the fellowship of getting together and like to feel we are making a difference in someone's life.
But, when one of our group was diagnosed with cancer, it didn't seem like a shawl from just one of us was enough. So, we made a "sampler" prayer shawl with each of us knitting or crocheting a section in our favorite pattern then passing it on to the next person. It turned out to be a lovely shawl, made with lots of love and many prayers.
We gave it to our friend while she was in the hospital and told her it was a "warm hug" from her friends.
