A Very Special Shawl
Created By: Bonniejean Kline
I have been making prayers and giving them away to whoever needed one or as apecial gift in time of need. I never thought I would have need of one. In April of 2005, my father passed away. Normally, I would have stunned and cried for hours upon hearing the new. This time is was different,he had died the day before my 50th birthday and I lost my best friend and hero.
I had just enough yarn to crochet a shawl before the funeral. I did not use the regular crochet pattern of 63 stitches. I made the shawl with 50 stitches for each year from my birth to his death.
After the service, I crossed paths with a woman who was a neighbor of my fathers. She not only attended the service but came to visit her son's grave. I took my shawl and wrapped her it. I blessed her and told not to worry about giving it back -- just past it along to someone who needs a hug in their hour of need.
It is almost three years later and to date, I do not know where the shawl is. I just know that it is giving a hug to someone who needs it more than I do.
