Mom's Prayer Shawl
Created By: Gail Hollingsworth
I had decided to crochet a prayer shawl for my mother for her 73rd birthday. Before I started it she fell and broke her hip. I began stitching and praying while she was recovering. I gave pearl beads to ladies in her Sunday School Class, Bible Study Class and close friends and relatives. They kept them and held them in their hands while praying for my mother. A month went by and one by one most of the beads were given back to me. After completing the shawl, I sewed the pearl beads to the bottom of each end of the prayer shawl. My mother was given the shawl for her birthday along with a small scrapbook that my daughter made her with notes from all that had prayed for her. She was truly thrilled. Interestingly she kept telling me that she could feel all the prayers going up for her while she was recovering and I just secretly smiled to myself, knowing that what she said was true. I entered the shawl in the Instructables Lion Brand Yarn challenge (I didn't win) and you can see it at www.instructables.com and type in Mom's Prayer Shawl under the search engine.
