Soothing Shawls
Created By: Debra Taylor
Our ministry started when a group of us would bring our children to church for youth group on a Sunday afternoon. Since we were from different towns we decided to stay and fellowship instead of going home and returning after youth group to pick up our kids.
Along with giving the shawls to people who need hugs and prayer we have used it as a teaching time for those who want to learn how to knit (or crochet).
Some of us are very experienced and some are not so we teach, encourage and fellowship while we knit.
We each give our shawls to people we feel our Lord has led us to. Some have lost a loved one through death, some are battling cancer, one lost her husband because he is serving a life sentence for child molestation. Very difficult situations and much prayer and comfort needed. When I give a shawl I ask ther person to remember that someone is praying for them each time they use theier shawl. A list of those I have given to is in my Bible to remind me to pray.
I knit on shawls at church and whenever I sit to watch television. I try to always keep my hands busy with service to our Lord.
I am sorry I have no pictures but all the shawls have been given away.
Blessings,
Debbie Taylor
