A dear friend of mine was visiting me at my winter home in Florida. She is a Healing Touch Practioner and instructor. She brought a prayer shawl with her to work on while on a cruise. I asked her to share the pattern and her experiences with me. I had been in a car accident the Spring befoe her visit and was still having trouble reading. The shawl pattern was easy and soothing to me and I loved the idea of helping someone in need. I kept on knitting and thinking healing loving thoughts as I worked on each shawl. As I finished each piece, the person it was meant for came along and I found a purpose for not
only the shawl, but for myself. It seems like every place I turn, there is someone who needs to know that they are cared about. Some of the people who have received my shawls and prayers are women with cancer, women who have lost a loved one and women with to much to deal with. I haven't known all of the recipients but they all know that someone is caring about them. I am so grateful to my friend for her gift to me and I can't express how much peace giving to others in need has brought to me. I still have trouble reading and when I get overwhelmed I happily pick up my knitting and think of others.
