The Morning Glories
Created By: Lannie Mease

Our Prayer Shawl ministry started with a couple of women who wanted to get together to make a difference and do something for people from our church and other friends who were hurting, sick, or down on their luck. Thus, the Morning Glories, were born, meeting at our church one morning a week for two hours. We call ourselves Morning Glories because we meet in the morning and we give Glory to Christ in what we do. Our group has about 10 women each week, and we all work together on various projects and then we go and deliver our project and go to lunch. Over Christmas we went to a nursing home and presented all the residents with either a prayer shawl or a lap afghan. We also have made baby hats and blankets for a local Maternity home for unwed mothers, chemo hats for cancer patients, premie hat for a local hospital for newborn babies, and every year we make an afghan for families whose homes our youth work on in the summer in a week long mission trip to the Applachian region. Each item we make is made with many prayers and before we deliver, we pray over each of the items. Recently we have begun presenting each baby batptized in our church a handmade afghan to help celebrate the babies birth. Our group is proud of being able to help others with our various projects but mostly we enjoy our Prayer Shawls because we give each of those indivually as the need arises and we have had many thankful people who really needed a lift in their time of need.
