We lost my 23 year old grand daughter two years...

We lost my 23 year old grand daughter two years ago to sudden death. The family was devestated of course, but my daughter (her mother) built a wall around herself that I was unable to breach. I ran across the Prayer shawl book and decieded to make her the one on the cover. When I gave it to her I explained that I made it with prayers and love in every stich and thought of her all through making it. She loved it! and it helped to open the communication again.
Then I realized that her husband was also hurting, but I couldn't see making him a shawl - so I used the pattern for the Fireside Jewel 6- hour Fast Finish Throw. He not only appreciated the caring but actually uses it to watch TV !
Since that time I have made twelve more "hug rugs" for friends, co-workers and church members that have either a serious illness or tragic incidents in their lives. I try to tailor the colors I use to each person - I've even made two red/white/blue
hug rugs for mothers who have sons in Iraq.
Lion Homespun yarn is so soft that it is perfect for a snuggle - and the recipents love the idea that someone cares about their trouble.
