Long Distant Hug
Created By: Tracy Fillmore-Frey
The day I received a call from my sister telling me tha our youngest sister had breast cancer, I was devastated. The hardest part was being so far apart. She is in Indiana and I am in Washington. Prayers became part of my day and I wanted to go home so bad.
You ask why this is happening to her and you know only God knows why. My sister is a strong person, in health as well as in faith. I called the church and put her and her family on the prayer list. I shared with my friends as well.
I found the shawl pattern on line and made it for her. It was my way of being close to her me. I told her to wrap herself in it and that way I could hold her close to me. I told her it was a prayer shawl and that we were all praying for her.
Our parents were able to go out and be with her as well as our sister. There are 4 of us girls and we are very close. She is cancer free at this time, but we keep her in our prayers that it won't return.
I was able to see her fianlly and she looks so good. She said she loves to wrap up in her shawl.
