The "work" in our little church.
Created By: Patsy Atkins

I belong to a little church Roselawn, Indiana. We are lucky to have 25-30 people in church on Sunday morning. But we do have an active ladies group. We started the Prayer Shawls ministry about 2 years ago and during that time we have managed to place approximately 60 shawls in various nursing homes, hospitals and a state home for women who need sanctuary from abusive treatment. We have only 3-4 ladies who do the actual knitting or crocheting, but we have many ladies who buy the materials for the "work" to continue. Like I said we are a small church but we have big hearts and love to provide the "Prayer Shawls" or "Comfort Shawls" as they are known by different organizations. We have given the shawls to individuals who belong to the church or have family members who are in need strength and the support or wrapping a soft warm shawl around theyselves during times of illness or mental distress of any kind. We manage to have one to two new shawl each week added to the amount and when we get enough to distribute them we do so and are please to receive note cards of thank yous from recipients. It does our hearts good to know that our "work" is helping someone who is in need.
