We started our Prayer Shawl Ministry over a year...
Created By: JUDITH L JOLDRICHSEN

We started our Prayer Shawl Ministry over a year ago. I approached Father on starting one and then approached four of my friends, who kit, crochet and sew about becoming core members. We introduced the ministry to our church and then we began. We have given probably 100+ shawls out to our church community and also the community. We present them at a mass and Father blesses them before we give them out. We enclose a card letting them know that we prayed for them during the making of the shawl and continue to pray for them. The response from people who have recieved them is unbelievable. They are so touched to know that people care for them and pray for them. It is a very humbling service to know that something realtively simple so touches peoples heart. We get together but we don't have meetings, we knit, crochet etc and just visit. We then usually go to lunch and Father meets us. I have totally enjoyed this ministry and it just takes one step, talking with whoever is in charge and getting people together who knit, crochet, we have one that quilts, fleece, etc, and then reaching out into the church comunity and then the community.
