Prayer Shawl
Created By: Pat Talyor

Our ministry started when a good friend told me of a wonderful thing that had happened at their church. She said that they had dedicated 400 Prayer Shawls. Something made me ask, "What?"

So she explaned what a prayer shawls was and WOW. So when we were together next, she was able to show me what she was talking about. I rolled it around and decided to make one, using the pattern she gave me, and wound up making three. I took them home to pray about them and waited for God's time. And one day the time was right--and I took it to my minister. She told me that she had been praying for something, as the sister church we are yolked with had had so much sickness that she felt helpless and wanted something to give them to hold on to. (I knew that there was a lot of gravely ill people in this church and we all had a huge prayer list for all of them.) From the three that I had made, one was given that Sunday, and we wound up teaching many classes and praying for many people. Each of us have been touched with God Grace by these shawls. All I can say is that I was just the vessel for this blessing, and I have been more than blessed by the prayers that have gone for my fellow members, some we have lost and some have had miracles and have "defeated all reason", but we know why. My best blessing was to recieve a hug from someone who was the wife of a seriously ill man. She said that he treasured the shawl (the first one that I made) and when he did pass on to God's hands she laid it to rest with him. She has herself, since then, recieved on herself, and has gone to her reward. Who knew that something so simple as a shawl would give such a great treasure to so many. My grandmother wore them, and treasured her shawls, perhaps she knew more than all of us knew. I think that anyone who knits or crochets or even swedish weavings and makes a shawl with prayers in the stitches recieves back all of the graces that we hope someone, known or unknown to us. Would I recommed it "Yessssss-there is more blessings than one heart can hold!" Try it!
