I started knitting and crocheting when I was 8...

I started knitting and crocheting when I was 8 years old. In those days there was just a radio to listen to and families sat in the living room and listened to the radio and either knit, crocheted or embroidered. My mother was a fantastic knitter and crocheter and so I followed in her footsteps. I do not crochet or knit to solve a problem but I do love both crafts and love to look at and buy yarn. I can't go into a department or hobby store without spending at least an hour in the yarn department looking at the various yarns and pattern books. I love Lion Brand's website and also spend a lot of time looking at patterns.
This past Christmas I crocheted 8 different stockings for family members to hang on their fireplaces, five of which were replacement stockings which my son, daughter-in-law and their three children lost when lost their home to fire last February. I still spend evenings in the living room in my chair knitting or crocheting while watching (or listening) to television. I love making different things so that I can give them to the people that I love.
