Giving...
Created By: Mary Dillon
My sister and I are avid Crocheter's, When I found out about the prayer shawls, 2 yrs ago, I made one in a soft blue Homespun, with the V-stitch pattern for a co-worker recently diagnosed with Breast CA. She was thrilled that I thought of her and made this comforting shawl for her which she continues to use. I have also had request from her for several people in her CA support group for the shawl. My co-worker tells me that they wear them when they get together and it adds to their connection with each other.
My sister made one for her elderly neighbor who was a bit of a recluse, but when my sister found out she was dying of CA, she made a shawl for the women. The neighbor died 3 mo's later, and my sister was shocked at her funeral to see she had requested to be buried in her prayer shawl. We are not part of a prayer shawl ministry, but my sister and I agree to say some prayer s for the person we lovingly give these shawls to. I guess you could say we are a ministry of 2. But the rewards we get, knowing we have comforted people in need is immense.
Thank You for helping make this happen, Mary Dillon
