I started making prayer shawls about 18 months ago. So far I have given 9 shawls. Several of them were to friends just because they have meant a lot to me over the years of our friendships. I have given several to friends who were ill and also to a friend who had lost a daughter..I always have one in reserve for that time when I need a shawl quickly. I know that even if I don't have someone in mind when I start a project it won't be long after it is finished that someone will need it.
I think most people assume only women wear the shawls but I gave one to a male cousin, who was going thru colon cancer, and he loved it.
I always put a card in with the shawl and tell the person that when they wrap it around themselves that it is a big hug from me to them.
There is nothing more rewarding to me than to see the smile on a person's face when I give them a shawl.
Thanks, Sue Daidone
