wrap up in prayer
Created By: LaDonna Stout

Every year we have a United Methodist Annual Conference.

This year it was decided that we would all wear a prayer shawl with the goal being to "WRAP THE CONFERENCE IN PRAYER" The members of the surrounding churches or anyone interested have each volunteered to make a Prayer Shawl. Our goal is 850 shawls. They are to be knitted, crocheted quilted and tied fleece or any other way the volunteer chooses.

I am speaking for the Culver,Ks. United Methodist Church and an interesting story about our Prayer Shawl project is that we are making our minister a SPECIAL shawl. We only have about 34 active members of our church and we are taking a picture of each one and making a "PICTURE SHAWL" for him. We will all say a prayer for our minister and church and the annual conference while making his shawl. We thought it would be a wonderful keepsake from us and a way to remember this particular conference. We are also making other shawls but we wanted to make a special one for him to always have. We are a very small community and have a very active congregation. We are in the process of having a Sweetheart spaghetti dinner as a fundraiser to purchase an AED for the Volunteer Fire Dept. So that we might all feel a little safer. One year our UMW made tied fleece prayer lap quilts for our shut ins and those who are in nursing homes and put a poem on them and delivered them during the Christmas season. What a wonderful blessing for them AND for us. Thank You for the opportunity to tell our story and may God's blessings be on all of you.
