Repetition is soothing
Created By: Sue Dean
Repetition is soothing
Very unexpectedly my husband (age51) passed away from a fatal heart attack in 2002. My children and I had no clue how fast our lives would change, we thought he was in good health knowing he went to the Doctor’s for routine check ups.
After his death, I found myself with a set of rosary beads always in my pocket, and the repetition of praying the rosary kept my mind occupied. As we reminisced about my husband, my children’s father, we looked over old pictures. While pulling out old photos I ran across a pair of knitting needles, I hadn’t seen in over 20 years.
My children were laughing; they had no clue I knew how to knit. Once the children arrived, I packed them away, having no time for myself. I found some old yarn and from memory I proceeded to knit a dishrag in the matter of an evening. Since then (5 years later) I have over 500 dishrags in a bag in the closet. My next goal is to rent a table at a craft show and sell them all, and spend the money on us doing something fun together. My children still laugh at the sight of me knitting, but realized it has helped me get this far in life without my husband.
