My Hooks and Needles Save Me!!!

It started with my Grandmother- with her hands knarled with rheumatoid arthritis she tried to teach this 7 year old to knit. She had patience for this, she wanted to share with me what she could no longer do. We tried. Fast forward to my teenage years, I enrolled in 4-H and had a wonderful leader who helped guide my hands where Grandma had tried but gave up in pain. I learned to knit and crochet, my salvation in many ways, I could and still can imerse myself into a project and forget all my troubles. In fact I let marriage and motherhood sidetrack me for a while and had some serious bouts of gastro intestinal problems that would hosptialize me for days. Since I picked up my hooks and needles again some 16 years ago, I have not been afficted again. My doctor asked what I did, I told him, he said keep it up, in fact he always askes if I started whatever project I've in hand while I was waiting! Sometimes it's a yes! oh my!
So I have now graduated to crochet cotton and make for my children a "doily" of their married name for a wedding present! But I had to pray to the heavens to learn that one! Litterally I could not accomplish it, I took my son-in-laws GreatGrandmas crochet hook, shook it to the heavens and asked for the help I needed! I woke the next morning and picked it up and wala! I could do it!!! to make a long story shorter I have made at least a dozen of these in the past 5 years since my oldest was married. I have my children's framed and displayed next to their wedding cakes on their wedding days!! Thanks to all the Grandma's out there to help us here and from the heavens!!
I like to give presents I make to people, and hope everone enjoys them!! There's nothing like the smile on a child's face when they bury their nose in something soft you just made them!!
I teach my craft to whoever wants to learn and have been a 4-H leader for years, so pass it on!!!
