Learning to Crochet

I was 18 years old riding the Rock Island commuter train to and from my job in downtown Chicago everyday. On the evening train the woman sitting across from me was crocheting a ripple pattern rug. I watched in awe for a couple evenings. Then i gathered up my courage and said, "I sure wish I could do that." She was very nice and told me what weight yarn to get, how much of it and what size needle I needed and said, "See you tomorrow night."
The next day at lunch time I went to the Five and Dime store and bought all the necessary materials.
That evening on the train the lady taught me how to make that rug. I worked on it on the train every evening for a long time. Finally finished the rug. I was so proud.
Now I am a great-grandmother crocheting for my grandchildren and great grand children.
