the surgery

When my daughter had surgery 2 years ago I brought my knitting to pass the time while waiting. I was making a scarf on 4 needles, a very informal pattern. I did not have an intended recipient for this gift, but I felt it would eventually find someone who needed it. I embellished it simply with embroidered snowflakes and put it in my "gift box". We exchanged names at Christmas for work and I knew I had found it a home. The nurse I gave it to was thrilled- she had never received anything homemade, and she thought the idea of me working on a project while waiting for my daughters return was special. It became known as the "Ashley" scarf, and Pat said it warmed her heart as well as her neck!
