A Woman With A Gift
Created By: Kristine Torres
I was 26 years old when I told my husband that we were expecting our first child.
About at week later, he went to our friend, Kitty's house. He had pretty much adopted Kitty as his mother after his real mother passed away.
While visiting - Kitty showed my husband a blanket she had made. It was a Raggedy Ann and Andy blanket. He told her that it was nice and he asked who the blanket was for. She replied, "I figured that you and your wife would like to have kids some day."
He then went on to ask her when she made the blanket. Kitty said, "About a week ago". (How ironic!)
From that day forward, Kitty and I became great friends. She went on to be an 'adopted' grandmother to our daughter and a great, great friend to my husband and I.
About two years ago, she taught me to knit and then to crochet. We continue to do projects with one another (often at our favorite coffee shop).
We make Christmas gifts for our friends and family. Kitty also makes wonderful shawls, sweaters, blankets, etc. for our daughter.
I've learned that knitting can be very soothing and relaxing...especially after a hard days work. (It's even more rewarding with friends.)
