Crochet for Charity

35 years ago my new sister-law taught me to crochet doilies. Over the years I learned many new stitches and became and avid crocheter.In 2006 I decided to crochet for charity. I made a few winter hats and was looking for a place to donate them when my mother thought that the lodge we belong to could find many area that crocheted items were needed, so began Crochet for Charity in earnest. Through donations of yarn from fellow lodge members I crocheted 90 winter hats, 105 chemo hats,80 baby hats, 85 preemie hats, 20 pumpkin and 20 santa hats for the preemies, 30 preemeie hats that were donated to Caps to the Capital, 45 pair of booties, 30 pair of mittens, 60 wild life nests that were sent to the Virgina Beach ASPCA, and 10 lap robes for Veterens.To date in 2007 I have crocheted 338 assorted hats, 8 lap robes, 50 pair of booties, and 8 pound puppies and love every second of this work.
