Three Generations of Xmas Stockings
Created By: NANCY A DOWNIE
When I was little girl, my parents' friend, Mrs. Smith, knit a beautiful Christmas stocking for me, complete with Santa, my name, and "1952". When I married, she knit an identical one for my husband, dated "1969". Upon the birth of my son, there was one for him, dated "1973", and later, one for my daughter, dated "1976". Mrs. Smith has been gone for quite a while, but when my grandson was born, I knew what I had to do. I had to take up my knitting again, which had been dormant for 25 years, and learn to knit socks. The result was 3 stockings, almost identical to Mrs. Smith's -- one for my son-in-law, dated "2004", one for baby Paul, dated "2006", and even a little one for our cat! Hopefully, in years to come, there will be one for a daughter-in-law, and ones for several more grandchildren!
