Love In Every Stitch
Created By: Angelika Headlee

My story started three years ago August 16, 2004. I was diagnosed with lung cancer. After I had finished the healing process and completed chemo a close friend gave me a prayer shawl. I was so intrigued with the fact that someone would take the time to make me something, other then my mother. I asked all the questions I could think of...how to make where did the idea come from, who do you give them to...on and on and on the questions came. I went on line to the prayer shawl site and gathered more information on how to make them, and what the colors mean.

Since that time I have knit over 200 prayer shawls and they have gone all over the US and overseas. Each shawl is blessed by all the members of my church in a special ceremony, a card is attached that was speccially written for the prayer shawls and they are sent on their way. I have help to start many different churches to do the same. Each person that I have heard from after they recieved their shawls is just thrilled and amazed that they were thought of. I have even had 3 people who asked to be buried with their shawls. Now that is very humbling.

I am not one to toot my own horn, but I really had to tell someone how much something like this means to other people...to know that someone would pray for them continually and have something to actually show them and keep in return means more then people could ever know.

If you are just thinking about doing something like this....knitting is universal. Talk about it and others will follow just as they have with my prayer shawl ministry.

Thanks for letting me share.

Angelika
