Suede Saves Daughter
Created By: Juanita SinClair
After years of trying to get my daughter interested in handcrafts like knitting, she perked up considerably when some suede yarn arrived in the mail, and she got her hands on it inadvertently while unpacking the box. Immediate turnabout. Previously she had been discouraged by the 'scratchy' feel of acrylic yarns, but this was soft. She deemed it worthy to be next to her skin.
In the last month she has picked up a crochet hook and made herself a long scarf of the suede yarn. The she proceeded to the knitting worsted acrylic yarns and made her favorite cat a cat-size afghan to sleep on. The she moved on to 12" afghan squares for charity, in the dispised acrylic yarns. She plans at least 12 more scarves and many more afghan squares.
May I hope that someday she'll actually make a sweater, learn to READ a pattern (and I can retire as interpreter), maybe design? Joy to the world!

PS DD is 19 years old and finally past the teenage 'eeewww' stage.
