crochet for charity

My gosh, I guess I have been crocheting now for at least 40 years!!!(man, that's a long long time, lol). I quilt, knit, paint, sew and love cross stitch. But crochet is my favorite. I always go back to crochet. My grandma taught me to crochet when I was about 8 and all I ever made for a long time was just chains with bedspread cotton.
Now I am into everything. Last year I made at least 20 blankets all different and donated them all to the veterans hospital. I also made a big bag of chem cqps and they went to the American Cancer Society because they pass those out. I LOVE to make baby clothes and stuff. I have been making lots of baby clothes for about a year now and I have given them all to charity. (Catholic Charities is very appreciative for everything they get.)You can but a few skeins of different colors in baby or sport weight yarn and make several different things. I made 16 pairs of new born baby socks out of just scraps I saved. I have to sell a few things here and there to make money to buy more YARN!!!!I love it when all the brands come out with new colors every year, I am like a kid at christmas.
I love to crochet, I love to crochet baby clothes and I love lion brand, especially the cottons and microspun.(microspun is great for swim suits and summer stuff like that).
Crochet is a great stress reliever too. I have a very stressful job, very stressful, but I work in a call center so I always have a project to work on while I am waiting for a call or on hold or whatever.
Whatever you do knit or crochet or sew, always remember your charities. there are soooo many little children out there, that are cold!!!! You can make some beautiful blankets or clothing with scraps, grannie squares are the greatest invention ever!!!
