I first began knitting this past Christmas when my 7-year-old daughter decided she wanted to learn to knit and she wanted me to teach her. What started as a learning project so I could teach my daughter turned into the "magic bullet" I was looking for. After struggling with my weight for years, I realized that by knitting when I was watching TV or a movie, I had finally found the way to lose weight - I lost 10 pounds in the first month after I started knitting. I hadn't realized that I was snacking while I was watching TV, but when I kept my hands busy, I suddenly started losing weight! So, in a way, my daughter saved my life through her desire to learn to knit. I now enjoy knitting immensely and look forward to the times I can sit down and do it. I find it to be very relaxing for me - better than a hot bubble bath.
