Blanket for my husband

When I was 10 a friend of my mom's taught me how to crochet. I taught myself how to knit 2 years later. When we married I had a huge box of leftover odds and ends of yarns used through the years. I wanted to make him a special afghan that would be just for him. Most every blanket that I have ever seen a pattern for was too short. So I made squares out of every type of yarn that I had and used every kind of pattern for squares that I could find. I made it 7 feet long so it would fit all 6'4" of him so when he used it his feet would not hang out and he could actually pull it up to his chin. For 29 years that has been the blanket that he pulls out whenever he feels bad, from colds to major surgeries. He says that he feels the love come through and makes him feel better. Even though it is getting a bit threadbare in places he refuses to let me even fix it.
