How Crocheting has gotten me through life.
Created By: Mary Johnson
When I was six my one grandmother started to teach me how to crochet. She didn't know how to read patterns but could copy any thing by just seeing it once. My other grandmother thought me the finner points of crocheting. As a teenager I would crochet when I was lonely or sad. As a mother in my twenty's it was a stress reliever because of a child with ADHD and when they were teenagers it helped when they got into trouble. I would just crochet, and the madder I was the faster I crochet. In no time at all I would feel better. Now at age 45, I crochet to help me get through my second bout with pancreatic cancer. I can't crochet as long or as fast as I use to but it helps get me going that day. It's also a great friend while I spend hours getting chemo each week. Almost all the things I have crocheted I have given away to family and friends. Some of the baby blankets I give to a place that helps young mothers. In so many ways crocheting has helped me with the ups and downs of live. And I thank God that he gave me this talent in life. I am amazed that everyone that I have given a crocheted item to think it special because of the love and time that went into their gift I made.
