Absolute Therapy

In April of 2000, my husband was involved in a motorcycle acident that resulted in permanent brain damage. Since then, I have become his caregiver. Now, if you saw him or spoke to him one time, you may not realize there is anything amiss. However, since his personality and mood is everchanging, the next time you may notice a difference. In December 2003, we took an RV trip from Las Vegas to Washington State with our four boys and 1 dog. I, being the ONLY female, needed to do something with myself or go nuts!! We stopped in a small town in California so one of our boys could work on a school project. Stopping at a Michael's, I became very interested in all of the unique yarns, books and crochet hooks. My paternal grandmother was a hooker and when I was small, she tried to teach me. She was of the school that all stitches have to be perfect. I would try a chain and she would rip it out. "Try again", she would say. After so many of these sessions, I eventually gave up. On that trip in the RV, I did not give up. I ripped my own stitches out! However, I did it so that I could be happy with the results. The many wondersul yarns out today include such a variety of "forgiving" yarns, they seem to be what I gravitate toward. Although, since that fateful December, I have opened a custom business where I contract for singular, one-of-a-kind creations. I have been very successful, less stressed by my husband's condition and young adult boys, and happier than ever. I also have severe arthritis in my hands (at age 40) and this is my ABSOLUTE THERAPY!!!! Thank you so much for allowing me to share my story. Must go "work" now! I love my job!
