63 YEARS OF CROCHETING
Created By: THELMA JEAN PARADYSZ
I was in the third grad when I had the mumps and my mother taught me to crochet to keep me in bed. I started with potholders, dollies, afghan. Over the years I made my own patterns. I have made baby blankets, receiving blankets, and animals, like frogs, ducks, cows, chickens, pigs, bunnies, and clowns of all sizes. I crochet Angles, Bible book markers, snow flakes for the Christmas Tree. About 20 years ago I crochet the Last Supper, with all the details, of the feet of the decuples, and a hallow around Jesus head. I started making the Last Supper and ripped it up 4 times before I finally got the right size. You see I was crocheting to loose. It is 25 feet by 43 1/2 inches, and it took me 6 and 1/2 years to finished it working on it off and on. I used a #13 stele hook and 30 weight thread. I fell this is a master peace. I have been asked how much I would sell it for, but I think it is priceless and won't sell it. I have taught crocheting and now I am teaching a class at my church. At times I have so much to do I just don't have enough time. The art of crocheting doesn't seam to be many people doing it any more. At times I have a hard time finding the colors I want. I make all kind of pins out of plastic six pack holders, like Santa Clause, Reindeer heads, Snow Men, Bunnies, Indian dolls and etc. I have a friend who has a Afghan her grandmother made a long time ago. The Afghan needed some repair to the flowers, there wasn’t a pattern anymore so I looked at it and copped the flower after a time. I have even made a castile with a holder for candy by looking at a picture. This is just a few things I have done with crocheting. I find crocheting is very relaxing and even taught one of my grandson's when he was 10 to make a double sided potholder. There is no lament what one can do with crocheting.
