I love Crocheting!!
Created By: Lisa Corsi
I started crocheting when I was 10 years old. My Grandmother had just gone into the nursing home. We moved here belongings into our house. Being a kid, I enjoyed looking at her things.
My Grandmother loved to crochet and knit. She made some beautiful things. I got into her crochet hooks and yarn. My Dad had told us to stay out of her things, but, you know...
Anyway, I took her pattern book, some thread and a bobby pin. I taught myself how to crochet with that thread and bobby pin. When I told my Dad what I had done, after being yelled at for snooping, he let me get my own yarn and hook.
Since then, I have made afagans for anyone having a baby. Weddings. Birthdays. Just for fun. You name it, I crocheted. I even made my husband a black and red afagan before we even started dating. He was into cars and joked around that he wanted me to crochet a black car cover for his "66 Falcon. I told him no. But, decided to make him an afagan for Christmas, which was a month away at that time.
Christmas Day that year, I spent with our mutual friends. He opened his gift from me - the afahan! And I got a mirror and candle sticks that he made for me.
I had a yard sale yesterday. I have 4 tubs full of baby, adult and throw afagans that I put in the sale. I just love to sit and crochet. It is my way of relaxing and getting away from the stress.
I've been reading your stories from others. And I can identify with most. Knitting I haven't really gotten that comfortable with. But, when I am stressed and need to unwind - out comes my yarn and needle!!
