Grief Crocheting
Created By: Regina Peters Kiss
I learned to crochet when I was a teenager. Every once in a while I made an afghan. Nothing big. Always the easiest I could find.
14 years ago my only child died and I started crocheting again. I found that it was a great diversion from grieving. It kept my hands and, especially, my mind busy. Now I've expanded from just the ordinary afghan. I've made sweaters, ponchos, and even that American flag afghan. I always make a sweater or blanket for that first time parent or grandparent (sometimes, both).
I have found that it took me away from grief for just a little while and helped me to relax my mind and my body. I love making things for people and always with a little more challenge in the projects.
