A grandmother's legacy

When we were expecting our first child 30+ years ago, I desperately wanted to make something that our son could pass on to his child someday. I had never learned to sew, much less knit or crochet. It was surprising when my Marine Corps Sgt. husband came to my rescue. Seems his grandmother had lovingly taught him to crochet as a young boy. He patiently showed me the ropes and I took it from there. Hundreds of afghans, baby layettes, scarves, mittens, etc later I'm still an avid crocheter. My dear husband's grandmother Goldie is now long deceased but her passion for crochet lives on. I hope someday my 3 grand-daughters will carry on the tradition she started many years ago with that young boy.
