Thank you Nana & mother
Created By: Christine Adamonis

My Nana was so very talented. She could knit, crochet, make lace, do embroidery. All the women in our family knit and crocheted. As a child I loved to go to the lovely English Yarn Shops with my Mother and Nana. I was the one whose job it was to hold the skeins of wool pulled taut over my hands, so they could roll them into balls, and I never got tired or bored doing it.
Nana taught me to knit when I was 4yrs old. We were also taught in school. Nana and Mother made me lovely cardigans, sweaters and hat and scarf sets. When I came over here and my daughters were born, they too had lovely hand knitted English clothes lovingly made by their Grandma and Nana. I continued to knit for many years but put my needles and yarn away due to life changes, work, divorce, etc.
When my daughter Michelle and her husband Brian were expecting their first daughter I got out the knitting needles and - welcoming my old friends - started knitting again. My Mother had never stopped. By this time she was living with me. Mother started doing all her knitting for folks in Nursing Homes and children in Shelters, which she continued to do till she died. I still have Nana's English knitting needles. My daughters never really wanted to learn to knit but my granddaughters do. Three years ago I started my own home business designing and hand-knitting custom-made dog sweaters and matching hats and scarves for their person. Homespun is the most popular yarn. Thank you Nana and Mother I am proud to carry on our long line of Fiber Artisans.
