My Grandmother
Created By: Elaine Roth
When I was around 6 yrs old my grandmother taught me how to chain stitch. For the next few years she added more stitches until I could make granny squares. As I got older I learned to read and do patterns. I still have the last granny square afghan she made me. I have made hundreds of afghans using a lot of different patterns. Lately I have been making afghan for Northwest Hospital in the NICU (preemie baby) which my husband is head of Ashley's Angels, the baby cuddler program for the preemie babies at the hospital. They are small so it is easy to make them and some of these babies go home with them and that is the only blanket that they have so it really makes me feel great. I also knit some and had a knitting machine for some time but the machine I had, the company went out of business so I sold it because at that time I would not be able to get parts or get it fixed.
