How I Quit Smoking
Created By: Laurel Butts
I decided to quit on Thursday, Jan. 13, 1977. I had no idea I was going to until my daughter came home from school that day with a small pamphlet about quitting smoking. In it I saw a black lung. It made me sick to see it and I decided then and there I would never light up another cigarette.
The worse part was not having anything to do with my hands. I had started knitting about 2 years before that. I got a potholder pattern from someone so I sat and made potholders for months and months. I must have had 200 pairs of them. All my relatives and friends had a set.
So, I thank knitting for helping me quit. That was 30 years ago and I never ever lit another cigarette. I am so glad I quit. It was the best thing I ever did!
