Possessed by the Needle

I was always fascinated by needlework. I can remember sitting on my great-grandmother's lap as she crocheted or tatted. I am talking more than half a century ago.
My fondest memory is of my mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a bevy of aunts trying to teach me any kind of needlework. They were all right handed and I'm a lefty. By the age of eight I conquered crocheting....I used a mirror with an instruction book. Once I got the hang of it I have never stopped.
I probably have crocheted and knitted enough yarn that, if measured, has circled the earth several times.
It is a hobby that releases my creativity beyond my expectations. I get a real high just entering a yarn shop. Besides making beautiful gifts for family and friends, my greatest pleasure is making items for charities, whether it is for an auction,or someone in need. It is truly giving from yourself and knowing someone will be warm because of it.
